Are you qualified to lead a retrospective? |
You must be able to answer "yes" to all of these questions: |
- Where you not part of the project?
- Do you know enough of the project un understand the technical vocabulary?
- Do you have solid general facilitation skills?
Now assess the temperament of the project community: |
- Was the project a success, or did it require stress and pain to get to the end? Or did the project fail?
- Is the manager really interested in holding a retrospective, or is he/she going though the motions?
- Are the interactions and communications among community members healthy or dysfunctional?
The more positive answers you give to temperament assessment, the less experience at leading retrospectives you need. The more negative, the more experience you need and/or you need to partner with someone experienced. |
